GERMAN NEWS

Deutsch für die Zukunft

(German for the Future)

In the last month we talked about Christmas in German speaking countries and their costums like advents calendar, wreath, Christkind, St. Nikolaus day etc. We heard about the famous Christmas markets and the fact that they celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve with an actual fir tree.

We enjoyed teaching about the festive season since it is one of the most important celebrations in the German calendar.

Here are some fun facts about Christmas in Europe:

  • Several tons of gingerbread cookies are made every year in Germany. One of the most popular cookies are the Vanillekipferl (vanilla made cookies shaped as a half-moon).
  • The one who brings the presents in Germany is not the Santa Claus but according to the tradition it is the Christkind.
  • The homeland of Christmas markets is Germany (more than 600-year-old tradition). There are around 3000 Christmas markets in Germany with about 80 – 90 million visitors from all over the world.

Some good-byes

Hallöchen liebe Rangeview Community,

It’s time for me to go back home to Germany to become Ms Schneider, the English teacher. As my time here made me realise that teaching is what I want to do for the future!

Being here in Australia was a dream come true for me.Working with the students here and in the German team was so much fun! This is an experience I’ll always remember and think back to with a smile.

Thank you so much for welcoming me so nicely and making my time here so special!I will miss you and maybe we’ll see each other again.

I hope all of you have wonderful holiday and a great start of the year 2024.

Ganz liebe Grüße und tschüss!

Dear Rangeview primary school Community,

It is with a mix of emotions that I write this letter to bid you all farewell. The past six months at Rangeview primary school have been a brief chapter in my life, and it is with a sense of gratitude and fondness that I reflect on my time here.

I leave with a heart full of appreciation and a sense of fulfillment, knowing that I have been a part of a school that values education and community.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Rangeview primary school for making my time here so rewarding. I wish the school continued success and prosperity, and I hope our paths cross again in the future.

Thank you for the memories and the friendships.

Warm regards und tschüss
