Learning In My Level

A celebration of what's happening across the school!

Level 3 News!

It has been a very busy end to the term and year for Level 3 students! Here are some of the highlights from this term.

Camp

In Week 10 Level 3 students went to Camp ADANAC and enjoyed some beautiful weather and participated in some amazing activities that stretched them outside their comfort zone. Students should be commended for their amazing attitude towards trying new things and the way they represented Rangeview. The camp activities included the Flying Fox, Waterslide, Photo Hunt, Disc Gold, Canoeing, Archery, Low Ropes, Aquaponding, Hut Building and Camp Cooking. The Level 3 teachers would like to acknowledge and thank the parent volunteers who made the camp such a resounding success.

Flora and Fauna

Students have finished their final rotation of our Flora and Fauna program for this year. They participated in rotations including cooking, gardening, science, sustainability and community. The Level 3 teachers would like to extend their gratitude to all the volunteers who have come in to assist with Flora and Fauna and make it such an engaging and integral part of our year.

Literacy

This term Level 3 students have written and delivered oral presentations on the topic of “An activity you should try”. This has consolidated their understanding of persuasive techniques that can be used to effectively communicate their opinions to an audience. Students have also been writing letters to their teachers for next year.

Mathematics

In Week 11 students from Levels 3 and 4 went to Heatherdale Reserve for our annual celebratory Fish and Chip Lunch. This was the culmination of a unit of Mathematics that included working together in groups of 3-5 to order their Fish and Chips. Students demonstrated their mathematical understanding by calculating the total amount of their orders, as well as the use of multiplication and division. The day was a great success and the Level 3 and 4 teachers would like to thank the volunteers from each class who picked up the orders, as well as the local Fish and Chip shops who made all the delicious food!

Inquiry: First Fleet

Our Inquiry focus for Term 4 has been the First Fleet. Students have engaged with the novel ‘Surviving Sydney Cove’ and learnt about the history of early settlers and their interactions with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In addition to the novel, students have also had two interactive incursions to help further their understanding of the circumstances that resulted in the journey of the First Fleet.
