What we have done?

Good afternoon everyone, today we will be talking about our Spaces and Play leadership team. We have been meeting each Tuesday to discuss how we can make a difference in our school. We have managed to have a meeting with Mr Grace and Mr Price to discuss ideas to make our school a safer place. We have walked around the school to do an audit of all the images displayed around the school and we have also done a survey for student from 3 to 6 and we have and we have used these results to put actions in place.

Action Plan - Focus: Visuals

Our goal with with the visuals around the school is to make sure that all areas of the school have visuals, that include a range of genders and diverse groups doing a range of jobs/activities, e.g. boys being nurses and being builders. We also want to make sure we include physical differences in people and teachers, like different skin tones, glasses, and also differences like religion or race. Lastly, on our visuals we want to include more disabilities, such as wheelchairs, crutches, and casts.

Action Plan - Focus: Use of Space

If you didn’t know our colour fun run donations are going to fix up the basketball and netball courts. Once the basketball and netball courts have been redone we are hoping to allocate specific sports for each court. We want to develop clear signage to put up. This signage will display rules on what games/sports can be played in particular areas and specific times that these sports can be played. To ensure everyone feels safe in all areas of the school.

Action Plan - Focus: Equipment

We have found that some students can’t always find equipment to play with because equipment is being hidden or taken to class. To make the playground a safer space we are going to allocate a tub of sports equipment in each class and a form in your classroom. So if you decide to take a piece of sports equipment you will have to put your name and piece of equipment down on that list. At the end of each term the sports captains will go around and make sure all the equipment is in the tubs. If it is not, the person that did not bring it back will spend thei lunch time looking for it. We understand if it breaks or pops, if it does please talk to your teacher.

Thank you.
