Week 9, Term 3

STEM

Grade 1 and 2  

The students will continue to make their water filters, and begin testing how successful they are.  

 

Grade 3 and 4  

Students will test their materials and designs to complete and then present their vehicles to class. Whose vehicle will travel the farthest? 

 

Grade 5 and 6  

Students will complete their 3D models and information plates to be displayed around the school to teach others about the states of matter. 

 

Physical Education

Prep PE

Students will continue to focus on the fundamental movement skill of striking a ball with a racquet. We will incorporate some games as a follow up from last week’s tennis clinic.  

 

Prep Sensory

In this week’s Sensory Gym sessions, students will enjoy a selection of activities and exercises designed to improve their balance, core strength and hand-eye coordination.

 

Grade 1 and 2

This week, the fundamental movement skill of ball striking will be our focus. We will incorporate several games as a follow up from last week’s tennis clinic. Students will be encouraged to monitor the force with which they strike the ball, for improved shot accuracy.  

 

Grade 3 and 4

We will continue to focus on the sport of Touch Rugby. Students will revise the key skills of passing, place kicking and dodging through participation in a modified game and some small group activities.  

 

Grade 5 and 6

This week, students will enjoy participating in a modified game of Touch Rugby. They will utilise the skills of passing, dodging and place kicking. Students will be encouraged to monitor their field position when not in possession of the ball.

 

Visual Arts

Prep

There is no Prep Art this week due to the Concert on Wednesday.

 

Grade 1 and 2

Students will continue creating the ‘warp’ of their loom ready to weave yarn through following the over and under pattern.

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will create a dog kennel for their clay dog using recycled materials.

 

Grade 5

Students will be designing their buddy bear to gift to their new Prep buddy next term. 

 

Grade 6

Students will be designing their clay tile that will be their legacy artwork to be mounted on the brick wall around the Prep building. 

Auslan

This week all students will be completing their learning snapshots for Term 3. They will be recording videos of them signing the following: 

Prep

Signing the phrase 'I see....' as they identify the animals they see in a picture. 

 

Grade 1 and 2

Signing their favourite and least favourite fruit and/or vegetable using the phrases: 'My favourite....' and 'I don't like...'

 

Grade 3 and 4

Signing a description of 3 friends or family members; using the fingers of their non-signing hand to identify and refer to each person.

 

Grade 5 and 6

Signing a description of a house floor plan; identifying the number of rooms and types of rooms in the house.
