CURRICULUM
๐ Phonemic awareness: reading and phonics
Students will complete one UFLI session this week, due to rehearsals for the concert (2 lessons and an assessment).
Students will be reviewing the long vowel sounds. They will read decodable words, phrases and texts. They will review the following heart words: there, where, who, by, my, one and once.
What can you do at home?
-Assist your child to read their 'take home' book each night
-Help your child learn to read and spell their Heart Words
-Explore the Reading Eggs library and Fast Phonics to read decodable texts
-Continue to revise sounds on the sound/letter ring
Optional UFLI Home Practice page (refer to the email for more information):
Monday & Tuesday learning: long vowel review
๐ Literature: reading responses and writing
The mentor text this week is the fairytale, Three Little Pigs. Students will be retelling the story using the prompts: first, next, then, last. They will also be adapting the story to create a narrative about their own 'Three Little ...' (the choice is theirs!)
Learning Snapshot ๐ธ We will be reflecting on our Production by completing a writing task about the night!
What can you do at home?
-Reinforce correct entry and exit points for letters if your child writes at home
-Provide authentic opportunities for your child to write at home eg. writing birthday cards, shopping lists and keeping score in games.
-Practise lower case letter formations on the app 'red writing'
๐ข Maths
Students will be reviewing teen numbers through making, sequencing and matching number groups. We will explore more 'Challenging Tasks' to consolidate our place value understanding.
Mathematical vocabulary used: group of 10, next, more, less, value, same, before, after.
What can you do at home?
-Practise reading numbers around you (eg. letter boxes, items in the kitchen, signs) and identify how many groups of 10 and how many more
-Practise writing numbers at home, ensuring that numbers are not reversed!
๐ CBL - Respect
We will be doing lots of concert practise in preparation for Wednesday's show! We are excited to celebrate our learning about respect and fairytales in our Production.
