From the Year 5 Classroom
In both Reading and Writing, Year 5 students have been focusing on persuasive texts. They have been analysing and critiquing a variety of materials, such as letters to the editor, advertisements, and narrative picture books. The students are in the initial stages of planning, generating ideas, and forming arguments to effectively persuade others on a selected topic.
In Mathematics, we are concentrating on selecting appropriate metric units when measuring the length, mass, and capacity of various objects. The students are also learning to convert between different units of measurement for mass, including milligrams, grams, kilograms, and tonnes.
On August 15th, several students were commissioned as FIRE (Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education) careers. These students have demonstrated a strong commitment to learning about Aboriginal culture and history.
The excitement of Book Week was palpable last Friday, with many unique and thoughtfully crafted costumes showcased during the parade. Students also appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different year levels while participating in a Book Week activity. Congratulations to those students who presented at the Poetry Slam.
We would like to extend our congratulations to your children for their exemplary representation of our school during the excursion to Riverlinks in Shepparton to watch The Peasant Prince. After the performance, they had the opportunity to enjoy lunch and engage in play at the Victoria Lake adventure playground.
This is a friendly reminder that we recommend your child reads at least four times a week for a minimum of 20 minutes each session. Please contact your child's classroom teacher if you are seeking book recommendations.
