School Library Day
Australian School Library Day was celebrated on Wednesday the 21st of August to coincide with CBCA Book Week. It's a day to think about and appreciate what school libraries can do for students and the learning community. We had a library party at lunch time, with lollies, cake and card games. Students also had the chance to enter the 'match the staff member to a book they love' competition. The 15 books displayed in the picture below have been nominated by 15 staff as one of their favourites.

On Monday, students cooked Mie Goreng, then sat at tables, eating together in small groups like they were at a restaurant. Prior to cooking, students put their restaurateur thinking caps on - they had a budget to work towards, then they costed out their ingredients to work out what to charge in order to make a profit. As this was a combined class, a group of supportive and dedicated staff worked together to offer this educational outcome.
