Rugby League

Over the past two weeks, our U15 and Open Boys and U16 and Open Girls Rugby League teams have played in the Country Cup Finals. The boys played at Coffs Harbour and the girls at Port Macquarie.

The Open Boys unfortunately lost their three games, however, played well and we are very proud of their achievement at this level. The U15 Boys played three games with a draw in the first, a win in the second game and then in a very tight game against All Saints College Maitland, were narrowly defeated. Thank you to the parents who have continuously supported the boys and to Shane Hasselmann who has volunteered his time as coach.

The Opens and 16's Girls Rugby League teams participated in the NSW State Northern NSW Finals in Port Macquarie. After a great team dinner, followed by the necessary gelato stop the night before, the girls turned up ready to go.

The Opens team only had one sub and as a team had pulled out of the competition the day before they had to play longer games than expected. They competed well and were very unfortunate to go down in one of their game by two points, whilst winning their other game convincingly.

The Under 16's were undefeated all day, working well as a team, scoring tries across all areas of the field and displaying incredible defence under constant pressure through many sets. The Under 16's will now progress to the  Country Final of this competition in Bathurst.

Netball

Last week, our Years 7/8 and Years 9/10 Girls teams played in the Diocesan Netball Gala Day in Newcastle. Our girls enjoyed a competitive day with mixed results. This was then followed by the NSW Netball Schools Cup Upper Hunter Competition at Singleton. In addition to the girls teams, we had two Years 7/8 and 9/10 boys teams compete. The boys enjoyed a great day of Netball. Both girls teams played in the finals with the Years 7/8 girls being defeated by St Phillip's Christian School and the Years 9/10 girls winning against Scone Grammar. Congratulations to the Years 9/10 girls that will progress to the regional finals later in the month.

Touch Football

We are very excited to announce that our Years 7/8 Boys and 9/10 Girls have been granted a “wild card” entry into the NSW All Schools Touch Football finals in Sydney this Tuesday. Both teams played exceptionally well at the regional tournament in Newcastle and were narrowly beaten by Hunter Sports High in the Semi Finals. Hunter Sports High then went on to win their overall divisions.

Futsal

Congratulations to Emily Grainger and Noa Kamstra who have been selected in the Northern NSW Futsal teams to play at the National Schools Futsal Championships in Brisbane during the September holidays. This is a great achievement based on their recent performances at the Northern NSW Championships. We wish them the best of luck.

Soccer

Our U13 Boys will play in the James Mate Shield at Tenambit on Thursday. This tournament involves schools from across the Diocese.

Athletics

Entries have now been submitted for the Diocesan Athletic Carnival on Wednesday 21 August. A Compass permission has been forwarded to parents. We have a large number of students competing in this event that have been certainly inspired by our recent success at the Paris Olympics.
