Book Week
Book Week 2024
This is the time of year when we celebrate all things reading, with a particular focus on rich literature for children and the amazing Australian authors and illustrators who create it. One of the goals of this week is to highlight the importance of reading.
At school, students will have opportunities to explore some of the books short listed by the Children's Book Council of Australia during their literacy lessons. If you would like to listen to some of the stories at home, many are available through Story Box Library. Our school has a subscription to this great platform that you can access as follows -
1) Visit www.storyboxlibrary.com.au
2) Choose Log In from the top right corner of the screen
3) Log in using the username and password provided below
4) Enjoy the library of stories on any device with internet connection

We will also be having a Book Character Scavenger Hunt throughout the week and students or classes are invited to search for an assortment of well known book characters located around the school. Can you spot them all?
Book Week Colouring and Design Competitions
Students are invited to colour a 'Reading is Magic' colouring page or to create a 'Reading is Magic' poster. These will be available through class teachers or from the Office.
We are looking for creativity and will be awarding prizes in the following categories -
Colouring Junior P-2, Middle Years 3 and 4, Senior Years 5 and 6
Poster Junior P-2, Middle Years 3 and 4, Senior Years 5 and 6
We can't wait to see what students create!
On Thursday, a group of Year 6 students will be visiting Aspendale North Kindergarten to read stories with the children. This has become a tradition between our school and the kinder and is a much anticipated event. We look forward to sharing books with our young friends!
Reading with your child can be such a joy and a great opportunity for a shared connection. Whether your child is a beginner just learning the basics, or an advanced reader who reads independently, reading together is always a valuable experience. I would encourage you to find some time this Book Week to enjoy a great story with your child. Happy reading!
