All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

On Thursday 15th August the Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Assumption signals the end of Mary's earthly life and marks her journey to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. Mary's body was taken up to heaven by the power of her Son.  It is this great love that Jesus showed for his mother that we celebrate today. The Catholic Church teaches that when Mary’s earthly life ended, God assumed her, body and soul, into heaven.

The solemnity of the Assumption is marked as a major feast day and, in some countries, a public holiday. In most countries, including Australia, it is a holy day of obligation.

This feast is highly regarded in Italy so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate 'Italian Day'. At St Louis', we started the day with a beautiful Assumption Day Mass.

Each level created a Collaborate Colouring Poster illustrating  the Seven Joys of Mary.

After mass our amazing choir sang a very entertaining Italian song then all the students were engaged in a very vibrant Italian production Vacanze Romane. Children who ordered pizza for lunch collected their pizza slices from the 150 pizzas ordered. Signoro Domino obviously had a very busy morning!

Finally the day ended with a Buddy Activity focussing on something Italian. Needless to say, the students (including numerous Marios and Luigis) enjoyed a very special feast day!

Even Frank got into our Italian Day Spirit in his green, white and red attire! Thanks to everybody involved for making this a fun and valuable experience for all our wonderful students.
