Principal's Report
Dear HPS Community,
Don't forget...no school for students on Monday!
This week saw our Year 4 cohort attend a three day camp at Lady Northcote Recreation Camp. There were many opportunities presented where students were able to build connections with others, develop responsibility and step outside their comfort zone. Resilience and independence were the big wins from the event, along with of course joy and happiness, with plenty of positive memories created.
A very big thank you to staff and volunteers who attended and supported the students through the camp. It is a big commitment from adults who attend, as they sacrifice time from their own family and life.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Book Week has been such a wonderful event occurring across our school this week. There have been many adventures experienced through reading shortlisted books and completing creative and crafty activities that connect to the book. It's been great to see the final products up on display or proudly being taken home to hang up on the fridge.
The week culminated in a whole school Book Week Parade this morning, and what a fabulous sight it was! Congratulations to everyone for getting involved and dressing up. There were so many fantastic costumes and books and characters represented. Thank you to Dani Durando, Denise Pilinis and our school captains, Aanya, Ava, James and Will for their organisation and hosting of the event.
We hope all the parents, carers and family members enjoyed the fun and festivities as much as we did.
I do remind those who took videos or photographs of our policy which states;
Heidelberg Primary School requests that parents/carers, students and invited guests who photograph, film or record school activities only do so for their own personal use and do not publish the images in any form, including on social media, without the prior consent of persons whose children also appear in the images.
Thank you for your understanding and compliance with this child safe requirement.
This afternoon we also welcomed Ms Carol Dawson back to HPS so the staff could share an afternoon tea with her and celebrate all her contributions to our school over the years. Today was the perfect day to invite Ms Dawson because she of course loves books and so book week was always a special event for her. Last year Ms Dawson was a great friend and supporter of the choir, supervising and enjoying the singing every Friday afternoon at rehearsal, so we couldn't have her here and not have them perform! Thank you to the choir for a beautiful performance. The whole school then lined the ramp and Ms Dawson walked through the guard of honour, receiving lots of appreciation and thanks whilst high fiving every single student!! Well done and thanks again for your dedication and commitment to Heidelberg PS Carol.

Notification of Asphalt Works
We have been advised that Roadsafe Asphalt will be undertaking works along the Roundabout Cape St & Darebin St on Tuesday 27 August between 9.30am- 3.00pm. To undertake these works safely a "ROAD CLOSURE" is required on Cape St and lane closures on Darebin St. There will be detours around the Cape/Darebin roundabout during those hours. They apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Off Site Emergency Evacuation Drill
Given our upcoming building works are likely to limit our options for onsite emergency evacuation assembly points, we are going to practice an off site evacuation to De Winton Park, Grove Rd, in the coming weeks. We will provide more information when confirmed.
