Bonjour Parents and Students!

Welcome to Term 3 Week 6.

We are so happy to watch our students grow in their knowledge and skill of French, and here is what they have done in the past two weeks.

Prep students learned about some basic emotion words like happy, sad and angry. They understood that when we describe a girl, an extra letter “e” needs to be added at the end of the emotion words.

Grade 1 students extended their knowledge on emotions by looking at more complicated words like scared, surprised and feeling sick. We consolidated their understanding of the gender form of emotion words, and they applied this knowledge to label different pictures.

Grade 2 students spent two weeks revising how to give basic information about themselves such as name, age, birthday, living suburbs and nationalities. They engaged in oral practice by asking and answering each other questions in French and written practice by writing the sentences down.

Grade 3 students learned about a common suffix for French adverbs. They looked at a range of adverbs and constructed sentences with subject + verb+ adverbs structure. They also revised giving greetings and wishes for different holidays/occasions as it is an important part of everyday life.

Grade 4 students extended their knowledge on French adverbs. They now have a better understanding on how adverbs work comparting to grade 3. They were taught a new group of verbs - RE verb and the conjugation rules.  They then made sentences using the new group of verbs and adverbs.

Grade 5 and 6 students looked at a wide range of expressions to describe food quantities and they applied the knowledge by translating recipe from English into French.
