In this week’s newsletter, I’ll cover several important updates focused on our curriculum and learning initiatives.

Year 12 Moderated School Assessment Marks: Stay Focused!

Our Year 12 students are in a crucial period as we finalise the school assessment marks and ranks for submission to NESA in Week 9 of this term. Remember, the HSC mark is a blend of 50% school assessment and 50% HSC exam performance. It’s vital to understand that NESA moderates the raw school assessment marks based on the HSC exam results. Essentially, the highest and lowest school assessment marks are adjusted to align with the highest and lowest HSC exam marks, while maintaining the relative ranks and gaps.

Key Takeaway for Year 12: The final assessment marks will be influenced by your HSC exam performance. There’s still time to make a significant impact—keep up the hard work and aim for the best possible HSC marks.

Year 11 Exams: Preparing for Week 9

Year 11 students are gearing up for their exams scheduled for Week 9. With just two weeks left in Term 3, these exams will assess the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the year. Subject Selection Season

We are currently in the midst of Subject Selection Season:

Year 11 2025 Current Year 10 students have submitted their preferences via the Edval Choices form. We are nearly finished finalising the course lines and will discuss any remaining subject concerns. Year 10 will receive the finalised lines next week (Week 7).

Year 10 2025 Students in Year 9 have just submitted their elective preferences for Year 10 2025. We’re analysing these choices to finalise the elective lines, which will be published around Week 9 of this term.

Year 9 2025 It’s now Year 8’s turn to start the subject selection process. Here are the key dates:

• Term 3, Week 7 (2/9/24): Assistant Principal for Curriculum will introduce the subject selection Google Site to Year 8 students and send an email to parents and students.
• Week 7: KLA Leaders of Learning (LOLs) will discuss elective options with Year 8 students.
• Week 8 (Monday, 9/9/24): Edval Choices forms will be sent out for Year 8 into Year 9.
• Week 9 (Monday, 16/9/24): Edval Choices forms due for Year 8 students moving into Year 9.

Year 8 students, I will be meeting with you next week to explain the subject selection process in detail through our Google Site.
