Careers News

Term 3 is a busy term of subject selection for stage 5 students and it has been wonderful to see all of our year 9 and 10’s being active participants in their education throughout this process. I have spoken to many students inquiring about how their subject choices might link to future career pathways and experiences.

School based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs) provide students with the opportunity to attain a nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification and their Higher School Certificate (HSC) while gaining valuable work skills and experience through paid employment. An SBAT may be undertaken in conjunction with a school-based VET subject or through TAFE. Students in year 10 who are looking to commence a School-based Traineeship in 2025 are encouraged to begin discussions with Mrs Galvin as soon as possible.

Students in Year 10 are currently sitting their Minimum Standards Tests in Careers lessons throughout term 3 with most students having already sat the Numeracy and Writing tests. The last test, Reading, will occur throughout weeks 7 and 8. If you have missed a session, keep up to date with catch-ups in the daily notices, or ask Mrs Galvin.
