Carlsruhe Annexe /

Main Campus - Year 4

Term 3 is flying by, it is hard to believe we are already half way through!

We have been spending quite a bit of time on our biome and country projects. As part of our inquiry topic, we are investigating countries along the same line of latitude as Australia in both Africa and South America. We are comparing biomes, fauna and flora across the 3 continents. Students have loved spending time learning how to read and understand an Atlas, it fitted in perfectly with the Olympics!

All Year 4’s have been participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Students have had to read and write a review for 15 books across the last 100+ days. Congratulations to those students who have already finished the challenge! Some students may need support from their families to write reviews at home to meet the challenge requirements. It closes on the 6th of September.

In Maths, we have been using our timestables knowledge to learn different strategies for solving multiplication problems. This week, we have been exploring perimeter and area. Next week we will continue working on Multiplication and Division.

We loved having so many families visit for Family Maths Night, even with our lighting issue! The excitement around Maths was great to see! We also loved seeing the kids challenge their parents, and win, in different games!

Well done to all those Year 4’s who competed in the Interschool Athletics Sports on Monday. We certainly got the best day of the week, weather wise! It is always wonderful to see the students having fun while representing their school.

Tuesday the 3rd of September will be 4AI’s last day at Carlsruhe before moving back to the main campus. 4LS will resume at Carlsruhe on Thursday the 5th of September. Closer to the time, students in both classes will be asked to bring in an extra backpack to transport their books and pencil cases between the two classrooms. More information will be sent out shortly.

Thank you to all those families who have helped look after the animals this Term. We will be sending out details about the final animal roster and the Term 3 school holidays soon.
