Mathlympics and Family Maths Night Resources and Wrap-Up

Wow, what wonderful events our Mathslympics and Family Maths Night were.

We are beyond proud and excited about the response the Woodend Primary School community has given to our Mathlympics and Family Maths Night and we all think it was a great success.

It is estimated that we had over 180 parents attend the presentation and 400 people including parents, students and other family members participating in our maths activities. Thank you so much for attending and showing such interest in your child’s Numeracy education.

Due to the high numbers of attendees, we did unfortunately run out of some of the teacher-created resources. These have all been scanned however and are available as an attachment in the Newsletter and on Compass. If you would like to pick up a hard copy they are available at the office so please don’t hesitate to come in and ask.

The presentation is attached so please feel free to download it and have a read.

We had many parents using some great Maths terms and vocab when working with their children and many others talking about looking forward to playing the games again at home. Many parents said they simply loved the opportunity to visit their child’s class.

We’d love to receive as much feedback as possible from the night to make this event even bigger and better next time, so please don’t hesitate to email myself, Diana Ellis, the school and/or your classroom teacher to let us know your thoughts.

In closing, I’d like to say a massive thank you to each and every one of the staff that worked so tirelessly to make these events such a success and contributed through hours of preparation by planning lessons and activities, laminating, printing, making resources, helping to set up, pack up, etc.

Thank you again for your enthusiasm and interest in Maths. We hope you found it insightful and had some fun learning about Numeracy here at Woodend Primary School.

Kind regards,

Mark Condon
