As Book Week comes to a close, it’s such a fun and exciting week, it’s nice to reflect on a week every year that celebrates all that is children’s writing, illustration and publishing in Australia.  It’s great that the kids try to guess which book is the winner.  Sometimes the winner is a surprise (“I need a Parrot” is one that springs to mind from a few years ago...very strange!!), and some winners are almost obvious because they are so charming (“Runt” from last year is a fantastic book).  Seeing so many children dressed up on Wednesday was so delightful. I love seeing what books have made an impression on them enough that they would like to dress as a character from one.

I’ve included some links to the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s website site that you can have a look at all the winning books, and an article from the ABC about the winning authors of the Older and Younger readers novels that might be of interest.

Book Club

Scholastic’s warehouse staff in Sydney have been struck down with the flu meaning they have been on skeleton staff for weeks, adding to the issues with Book Club at the moment, I’m afraid.  The second batch of Issue 5 orders has just been despatched from Sydney which should arrive early next week.  Issue 6 catalogues have also been delayed being delivered, unfortunately.  If you would like to have a look at the latest catalogue, I have included the link to the online version.  Issue 6 orders are due no later than Thursday 5 September for both LOOP and cash orders.  Catalogues will be distributed as soon as we receive them.  Please note that one book has been withdrawn as shown below.

Below is the link to the digital catalogue:

BC 6: Scholastic Book Club: Issue 6 2024 by Scholastic Australia - Issuu

PLEASE NOTE: Item 033 MrBeast: Best of the Beast has been cancelled and pulled from release. The book will NOT appear on LOOP for ordering. Unfortunately, the catalogues and posters had already been printed.
