Principal's Report

Wow! BOOK FUN DAY!

What an amazing day we had today and the most amazing experience for our children. So wonderful to celebrate these events with the school and our amazing community. The celebration of reading and what we enjoy and treasure about books was amazing to hear from the children.

I was totally amazed by the effort that people went to, it was great to see the number of children who dressed up as book characters and brought their books along to share. The sharing at the assembly had plenty of excitement and had a lovely community feel. Thank you to parents and carers who joined us to celebrate our Book Fun Day assembly. Keep your eye on our Facebook page for photos of some of the amazing costumes.

A huge thank you to  Lou Tribolet, Dani Fountain and Zoe Bartus for organising such an outstanding day for the children of BPS and to all the teachers for their creativity and fun costumes and the activities they prepared for the day to run as smoothly as it did.

We were also incredibly to have Sue deGennaro today who shared with the students how she tackles the writing of her books and also taught the children some of her strategies of illustrating them too.

STUDENT VOICE AND SPORT

Student Choice and Student Voice is alive at BPS! Our Year 5/6 students were asked to nominate and then vote on their sport choices for the remainder of the term. And the winners are....downball, dodgeball, touch rugby, badminton, Ultimate Tag and table tennis!

On the topic of sport it was great last week to hold our annual staff vs Year 6 basketball match. The students did a great job and held their own against the staff but ultimately the staff came away with the victory, meaning the trophy will remain on display in the office for another year!

SUNSMART POLICY

A reminder that as per our SunSmart policy from Term 4 through to Term 1, and particularly given the fantastic weather over the last two days - ALL BPS students and staff are encouraged to wear hats during recess and lunch and for all outdoor activities, especially Physical Education.

RESILIENCE PROJECT

Join The Resilience Project’s high-energy Kids Show in the term three school holidays across Victoria this September!

Through music, storytelling and plenty of laughs, Martin Heppell’s show “3 Happy Tricks" provides children and their parents practical strategies for ways to be happier and more resilient.

PARENT OPINION SURVEY

Thank you to those families who have already logged in and completed the Survey. If you received an email last week with the unique login password, please take the time to complete the short survey by the end of next week.

LOST PROPERTY

A reminder to please ensure that all items of clothing and lunch boxes are clearly named. We are seeing quite a lot of items being sent to the lost property area, please encourage children to check the lost property if an item is missing as well.
