News from the Chicken Coop

Thank you

Thanks to the Ly and  Roberts families for looking after our gorgeous feathered friends over the past few weekends. We heard you got lots of eggs, yum!

Volunteers are needed for the school holidays!

Now is the time to let us know your dates that you are available for chicken duty during the school holidays from 19 September - 1 October.

You can choose how many days you would like to do, 2, 3 or 4 days in a row would be ideal. Chicken Duty involves letting the chooks out of their coop in the mornings and putting them away in the evenings, checking that they have enough water each day and feeding them when needed. It doesn’t take very long. Occasional cleaning out of chicken manure will also be required. Full instructions will be provided.

Don’t forget that duty families get to keep all the delicious eggs they collect while on duty. Please email Mel at mkerwin@sjmitcham.catholic.edu.au  if you can help out during the September holidays. Nominate a couple of your preferred dates and we’ll pop you on the roster for one of those. First in, first choice of dates!

Egg Lotto

Due to the school production, we may not be able to sell tickets on Wednesday but watch out the front of the school for us on other days this week or send your money in to school and we’ll put your name in the draw for you.

All the money we make is put back into the keeping of the chickens for buying food and other resources. The next Egg Lotto draw will be  Monday 11th September at assembly. There will be a couple of dozen eggs available to win so get your $1 raffle ticket soon.

Thanks for your support,
