"Hanging Five"

The last few weeks have looked like the beach scene from the Generation Gap with the song    “Hanging Five”. Bathers, goggles, swimming caps, soggy socks and what would swimming be without our beach towels, wet undies and flotation devices.

We wanted to thank all of our dedicated staff, volunteers, parents, grandparents, and friend helpers for your participation in the swimming program. Walking back and forward from the pool daily for the past two weeks has certainly added to the daily step counts and fitness regimes, but it also highlights the commitment of all to ensuring the GRPS children are able to participate in such a worthy program.

Over the past two weeks, we've seen incredible progress and enthusiasm amongst our young swimmers, and life skills learnt.

Speaking of life skills, learning to swim is not just about staying afloat in the water; it's about instilling confidence, safety, and a sense of accomplishment in your children. Swimming is a skill that can save lives, and it provides a foundation for a lifetime of water-related activities and adventures.

We hope that this program has helped your child realise the importance of learning how to swim and the joy it can bring.

As the program progresses, we've noticed that our lost property pile has been growing. We kindly request that you check in with our staff if your child has left any belongings behind.

We want to ensure that everything is returned to its rightful owner, and your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated (even the soggy socks and undies😊)

Helping students navigate disruptions:

We know how important it is for your school to navigate these works and there are several ways we’ll help students, parents/guardians and staff get to and from school safely, including:

  • Clear, signed pedestrian pathways around construction zones, particularly where these zones are near schools
  • Traffic management crews on site to safely direct traffic and monitor congestion
  • School updates, such as this email, to provide information that can be used in school communication channels to parents and guardians
  • Opportunities for students to get involved in the project through learning activities and career talks
  • Clear, advanced notice of disruptions online, via email and SMS, and in local letterboxes.

We’re also available to hold meetings with parents/guardians at schools to go through these pedestrian access changes and bus stop relocations in more detail.
