A word from our School Council

Introducing another School Council Member.......

Hi everyone,

I'm Ellis Richardson, parent of Xander in Brigitte's Grade 1/2 calls and first-time member of the NPS School Council. Can you believe another month has whizzed by and we are now at the tail end of Term 3, and hopefully all our young humans are getting excited about upcoming school holidays!

As we always try to do, we want to provide you a brief update on this month's School Council meeting (held Wednesday 30 August) and our goals for the next few months.

Welcome Natalie Dean (prep teacher) who was voted in as a community member!

Talking the Talk (Sexuality Education)

NPS have engaged with provider from “Talking the Talk” to support the implementation of Sexuality Education from Prep to Grade 6. These sessions will be face to face, and the messages will focus on consent.

This face to face information session will be held at the school on Monday 11 September from 7:30pm until 9:00pm

"Through knowledge and education, we aim to positively influence an individual’s,

lifetime journey of discovering their own unique sexuality personality and to

facilitate their right to the opportunity to write their own sexual health and wellbeing ‘script’ for their journey through life"Source: https://www.talkingthetalksexed.com.au

VSBA Landscaping Works

Shaun has organised a preferred candidate to sign the consultancy agreement. The current plan is for them to commence the conceptual design in early September, based on their availability.

Working Bee (26 August)

The Working Bee was a great success, with the focus on clearing up and around the grounds of The Block. Thanks to the parents who devoted their Saturday afternoon to the group effort. You’ll see some photos from the working bee in the newsletter.

Interactive Whiteboards

The school recently purchased 12 new Interactive Whiteboards, which have all been delivered, installed and now being used in the classes. All staff have received professional training on how to use them. Most existing TVs will be repurposed in other exciting ways for use around the classes.

School Hats

New school hats will be available from the end of Term 3 / Start of term 4 for families to purchase.

The hats will be reversible, navy on the outside with house colours on the inside. What a great idea!

Grade 3/4 School Camp

The School Council endorsed the risk assessments for the 3/4 camp to Phillip Island which will be held on Wednesday the 8th - Friday 10th of November. It looks like a fun camp, and we can’t wait to hear all about their camp adventures.

Upcoming Purchases from School Fundraising

  • Green Team will be getting new composting systems. The organic waste bins and solar composting units will be a great way to educate the kids on reuse, recycle and repurpose.
  • Video / Editing equipment for the Grade 5/6's to create videos as part of an exciting project.
  • X2 mobile stainless steel bench tops for the school canteen. These will be used by students for cooking and as they’re portable, can be for social and fundraising events
  • We are also still investigating a new PA system to replace the older one.
