Catholic Identity
Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.
Thank you for the gifts of our school,
our environment, our families and friends.
May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.
Mary our Mother, pray for us.
St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.
Amen
This year’s theme for C.E.Sandhurst schools is
“Let the words you speak always be full of grace.”
As we continue to spread the Good News, we are called to be people of dialogue,
using our words as instruments of love.
We will encourage those in our care to speak kindly to one another in the classroom, the playground, on the bus, in the car and at home.
“Upon this rock, I will build my church”
Sunday 27th August 2023 21st Sunday Ordinary Time Year A
In Sunday's reading, we hear in Mathews's Gospel Jesus asking his disciples who they thought he was. They gave many different answers. When Jesus asked Simon Peter, he answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
Jesus replied "Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
We pray we turn to God in prayer. Help us to have the strength of character to be people of faith who show compassion, mercy and love to everyone around us. Assist us as we continue Jesus' message and good work.
Let us Pray…
O God,
Who has taught the multitude of the unbelievers by the preaching of blessed Paul the Apostle: grant unto us, we beseech You, that we who keep his memory sacred, may feel the might of his intercession before You.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
