                          Grade 5/6 News

Over the last fortnight, the Gr 5/ 6 students have been working on learning about the Seven Sacraments in the Catholic Church, with a focus on the signs, symbols and rituals used in each sacrament.

In English, they have continued to work on Narrative writing and have had fun making poetry in many different ways. We are also continuing to work using adverbs and adjectives as well as punctuation and spelling using THRASS.

In Maths Gr 5/ 6, students have covered Money and Financial Matters. They have done this by working on worded problems while learning about deducting 10%, 25% and 50% from a set amount of money. We have continued to look at fractions and percentages while doing so.

The Gr 5 /6 students are excited to write their Educational Research Project (ERP) questions this week. They have made a positive start to them in class. I am also eager to see what they will discover and how they will present their findings. Please stay tuned for the date of the Family Day when you, too, can see their end products for their ERP's.

Thank you, families, for the beautiful and creative costumes the students wore for the Book Week Parade last Friday. They looked fabulous and demonstrated significant leadership skills on the day by assisting other younger students during the activities they completed and getting into the day's spirit. Thank you, parents and caregivers, for coming to watch the students in the Book Week parade.
