Level 1

Level 1

Literacy

Over the past 2 weeks we have been learning about inferring about the texts we read and explore. This has involved us becoming detectives and looking for clues in our texts and using our prior knowledge to infer what is happening or what might happen next and how we know this. Students have enjoyed this and have become quite confident. They particularly enjoyed reading the text ‘Neighbours’ where they used the clues and what they knew about the possible neighbours that lived behind the mystery doors.

Students have continued to wow the level 1 teachers with their excitement and skills in writing the variety of poems we have been learning. We have practiced our rhyming and diamante winter poems over the past 2 weeks.

Spelling

The students have enjoyed brainstorming and creating our spelling crafts. Over the past two weeks we have practiced our' Wh' and 'Ea' words.

Maths

In Maths we have been learning about new strategies to help us solve multiplication problems such as repeated addition, equal groups and arrays! The students have loved exploring hands on activities and even drawing on the tables to display equal groups and using playdough to make arrays!
