ART

Lots of things happening in art lately including creating some special Father’s Day gifts. The 3-6 students have finished their colourful alphabet inspired collages and just look at the wonderful collaborative art that is displayed outside Mrs Stockdale’s office and throughout the school. Take some time to come and marvel at it but also read the awesome alliterate poems that compliment the Pete Cromer inspired collage pieces. F-2 students have started to explore print making and last week they made their own stamps out of recycled materials and this week there was so much excitement as they got to create prints from their own stamps. How amazing are the patterns and textures they created.

SPORT

In sport it has been all about skipping for Jump Rope for Heart. Our younger years have been practicing the "turn and jump" and senior years have been practicing trick jumps, group jumps and everything in between. It has been fantastic to see every student throughout the school give the big ropes a red hot go.

On Thursday we celebrated our Jump off day for Jump Rope for Heart. We had the music pumping at lunch and snack, with games led by our Sport leadership team. The favorite game was definitely helicopter.

Concluding our fundraising effort, St Pats raised a whopping $2320! Thank you to everyone who donated to see our students skipping for such an awesome cause! Keep up the skipping skills Sporty St Pats.

STEM

The last few weeks in STEM, the Grade 1/2’s have enjoyed learning and experimenting with the concept of Stop Motion. They have rotated around a number of workstations where they have been able to use different props to create their Stop Motion clips. These have included; play dough, duplo, blocks, construction vehicles and kitchen play sets. Each week, the students have developed more advanced techniques for capturing their ideas through stop motion. They have worked in pairs to extend their stop motion skills and in the coming weeks, will create their own animated story using stop motion.

ITALIAN

Students in Foundation/Gr ½ have enjoyed learning about Pets: Animali Domestici. Thankyou to all who sent in photos of your family pets. They were shown in Italian lessons and the children enjoyed viewing their own pet as well as others. Students have been learning simple sentences about their pet including basic adjectives like grande (big),piccolo(small), carino(cute), lungo(long), grasso(fat).

Grades 3-6 students have been learning about I Vestiti: The Clothing. They have participated in labelling clothing and using phrases like Io Indosso (I am wearing….) to describe their clothing. They enjoyed Mrs Corso bringing in her suitcase with clothing items to share relevant vocabulary. Keep up the good work everyone!
