Grade 3/4 Students

Celebrating our Tremendous Threes and Fabulous Fours!

Literacy

During this term students have been engaged in a comprehensive study of local government structures and their roles in serving the community. As part of their course work, students were organised into community groups and tasked with applying their persuasive writing skills to collaborate effectively. Their primary objective was to present compelling arguments to the council, which had access to a budget of $20,000 allocated for community initiatives.

The students demonstrated remarkable diligence and persuasive abilities throughout this process, rendering the council's decision-making process notably challenging.

Numeracy

The 3/4 students engaged in a team-building exercise centred around code cracking. They were divided into groups and tasked with various collaborative activities, resulting in the generation of a passcode for an iPad upon successful completion. The classrooms were filled with enthusiasm, inquisitiveness and enjoyment as the students put in their best efforts to be the first to successfully decipher the code.

Wellbeing

Our Grade 3/4 students have been learning about FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and the importance of including others in online activities, groups and games. We have been discussing the positive effects that we feel when we experience inclusive behaviours for example ‘feeling valued’ or ‘belonging to a group’. Through the use of discussions and short skits, the students were able to recognise the emotions others would feel when being excluded both online and at school. We're immensely proud of their growth and the empathetic community they are cultivating within our school.

Production

We are delighted to reflect on the outstanding two performances we witnessed last week. The school staff holds immense pride in acknowledging the students' unwavering dedication, boundless enthusiasm and commitment throughout every phase of production.

In the lead-up to these performances, we observed that every student exemplified our school's core values. We sincerely hope that you, our audience, derived as much enjoyment from the show as our teachers and students did from the preparations.

Have an amazing school holiday.

See you all next term!
