Grade 2 Students

Celebrating our Terrific Twos!

Literacy

This week in Reading, we have continued our focus on fluency in the classroom. Students have enjoyed our paired reading practise as they can read to a peer, provide/receive feedback and vice versa. We have also been working on identifying the main idea and locating it within a text. In Writing, students have continued exploring different features and types of poetry. These include similes, alliteration and limerick poems.

Maths

In Maths, we have been learning about two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects and to identify the number of edges, vertices and faces (for 3D). Students have worked hard to recall the names and understand the origin of the names.

Respectful Relationships

We have been learning about help-seeking. This includes identifying people in our lives who we can ask for help from, such as peers, teachers and family. Students also looked at the situations in which they would be best to seek adult assistance.
