Literacy

We have been continuing with learning new digraphs and even one trigraph ‘tch’. Each week we introduce a new sound with the sound box items (see the wall in the classroom). Every day we complete activities and use this di or trigraph to sound out and make words. The children are absolutely loving the new 'Little Learners Love Literacy' program and so are we!

Maths

This was Maika’s ‘Friends of 10’ work during our musical chairs game. Each seat has a sum with a missing number and students had to stop when the music stopped and then fill it in by working out the number you need to add to make 10. You may also ask your child to sing you the ‘Friends of 10’ song (by Pevan and Sarah, of course)!

Wellbeing

This week we made ‘worry dolls’! First we read ‘Ruby’s Worry’. There are some lovely versions on YouTube you can watch too. In the story it spoke of how talking to someone made the worry go away. We discussed this and also completed the worry doll craft. The ‘worry dolls’ can be placed under their pillows at night and help with their worries. It was a very sweet lesson and the children loved it. Some even made some for their siblings.
