School Library Day
We celebrated School Library Day 2023 by asking our staff to gift a 'book worm' from our Book Week garden (above) to a student. Over 100 book worms were given out and we hope they brightened everyone's day.
The winner of the book cover design competition 'Read, Grow, Inspire' was Chloe (Year 9) with a very colourful, bright design - who wouldn't want to pick this book up - well done.
Shadow Judging
During Book Week we concluded our CBCA Picture Book Shadow Judgingactivity. The official winner of the CBCA Award was 'My Strange Shrinking Parents' however the overwhelming favourite amongst our students, and winner of the Shadow Judging Award, was 'Frank's Red Hat'. Thank you to all students and staff who participated in this activity.

With over
Thank you to some of our Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge students who provided us with the following book reviews....
The Cruel Prince - Holly Black
review by Lily (Year 8)
After the tragic death of her parents Jude and her sisters are forced into the magical land of Faerie and are raised by the very person who murdered their mother and father. Jude soon learns life in Faerie is difficult, especially as a human, and she must navigate it the best she can, all the while battling her own emotions, and conflicting feelings towards certain faeries who see her as the scum on the bottom of their shoes. I liked this book a lot, it was a very interesting fantasy world to delve into.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan
review by Ryder (Year 7)
This book got me into reading – this page turner sucks you into its story, using Greek mythology and a great hero’s arch in the protagonist. First series I re-read – it’s a must read!
My Journey to the World Cup - Sam Kerr
review by Kaya (Year 7)
An interesting insight into the life of Sam Kerr. I enjoyed this book, and it was very well written and an easy read. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend this to any fan of the Matilda's and soccer.
Laugh along with Avalon
Thanks to Avalon (Year 7) for sharing some of her favourite jokes with us from the K-Zone Ultimate Joke Book.
"What do you call a sheep with no legs?"
A: A cloud !
"What should you do when it's raining cats and dogs?"
A: Be careful not to step in a poodle !
"What do cats drink on hot days?"
A: Miced tea !
