Wellbeing Report
This week is
NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION WEEK
This year National Child Protection Week will continue to champion the message ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’.
This message captures the essence of National Child Protection Week which aims to promote a safe and supported life for every child, now and into the future.
The aim of Child Protection Week is to bring together partners to focus on addressing the significant harms being experienced by children in Australia. By working collectively to change the trajectory of these children and families, we can reduce the number of children who may come in contact with the child protection system. The time to act is now.
The eSafety Commissioner website has fantastic parent resources to help you start the chat with your child about online safety issues and strategies. These downloadable resources include:
- Parent App checklist – find out what apps are being used by young people and what information they are sharing through them.
- Parental controls for social media, games, apps, devices and accounts.
- Managing online issues resources.
Another valuable resource produced by the esafety commissioner is their PARENT GUIDE BOOK.
This book covers some of the key online safety issues for young people and includes a range of practical tips and advice on what to do if things go wrong. You can also find a list of important services that can offer extra support.
Please find a link to the resource here.
NAPCAN – The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION for PREVENTION of CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT also have a variety of downloadable resources for parents:

With holidays approaching and spring in the air, please encourage your children to spend time face to face with friends and family outside in the sunshine. Its good for their physical and mental health to get out of the bedroom and off the devices. While our Year 12s will certainly be in study mode, it is also important for them to have a break and some time away from their screens.
Pat Cronin Foundation Presentation
Next Tuesday we are lucky to be able to have the Pat Cronin Foundation present to our Year 10s. The Pat Cronin Foundation delivers a ‘Be Wise’ education program, empowering young people with skills and strategies to stay safe in social situations and ‘Say No to Violence’.
They will discuss the consequences of social conflict and how students can navigate anger and de-escalate conflict.
Please see the attached flyer for more information, or click on the link to find out more about the organisation.
