On the 15th of August, St Mary’s comes together to rejoice on our Feast Day – the Feast of the Assumption. We gathered together in the Hugh O’Brien Centre and the history of our four Houses were celebrated to highlight our spirit.
This year, as we celebrated Mass, we commissioned four students to be Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, an exciting opportunity for those filled with faith.
After the Mass we honoured those in our community who live out their values in daily life by awarding a SPIRIT certificate, whilst Jacob Majer (Year 9) and Kiana Hardcastle (Year 12) received SPIRIT medallions.
We also acknowledged the dedication and long service of a number of our staff:
20 Years
Candice Kelly, Mary Sheppard, Daniel Krause, Joanne Wright
25 Years
Joseph Laudadio, John Cahill
After Mass we then ate cake, and enjoyed each others company during activities that cater for all. Despite the ongoing popularity of “the Soaker”, this year several new activities were added. A speed gun recorded how fast you could throw, word splat provided lots of laughter as brains worked overtime, and if you felt like relaxing with a little art…you could paint rocks. Our thanks to Zappala Raw Materials for donating our rocks. (https://www.zappalarawmaterials.com.au/)
With our belly’s full and activities done, we returned to the Hugh O’Brien Centre to watch the Concert – full of student and staff talent. Amazing to see our students and staff perform and see people light up on the stage.
A wonderful way to live in faith, hope and love.
With faith, hope and love,
