What a big fortnight at TPS
Mr Hogan
Our school community has been rocked by the loss of ex-students Luke and Benny Smith last weekend in a light plane accident in Gippsland.
Luke and Benny were both incredible young men, who were active participants in the local community through their sporting and school achievements.
The Smith family have had a long and very active association with our school, where all 4 of their children attended.
This news has brought out a range of different emotions across our community, and I thank the wonderful support from our Regional wellbeing team to provide in-school support for staff, students and families.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Alastar (AJ), Leonie, Ryan and Olivia in this extremely difficult time.
If anyone is in need of support, please reach out to Melissa or myself.
Next Friday, November 29th is our final Pupil Free Day for the year. This is a staff report writing day. No students are required at school on this day.
We have just completed a fantastic 3 days at Murray Life Adventures for our Grade 3/4 Camp.
This camp allows our students to challenge themselves and get out of their comfort zone, participating in a range of problem solving tasks, and completing a range of activities at height, including the Flying Fox, giant swing and climbing wall.
Thank you to Mrs Cardillo, Mr Bourke, Meg and Brayden for giving up their time to support our students.
It is hard to believe that the end of the year is only 4 weeks away, but still so much to get through in that time.
The final 2 weeks are always very hectic for all staff and students as we wrap up the year and start preparing for the following year.
Statewide transition day is on Tuesday, 10th December. This is where your child will be in there 2025 classes, with their teacher for next year. Grades and grade lists are carefully considered, and changes after this date is extremely difficult.
The final week is a great chance to celebrate a fantastic year at our school.
Monday is our Final Assembly and annual Christmas Sing along. Class parties will also be happening on this day, and end of year report will be released on Compass on this day.
Tuesday is our Graduation evening, this year held at the Tongala Shire Hall in Mangan Street. Finer details will be released shortly, but this evening is a great opportunity to celebrate and farewell our Grade 6 students.
Wednesday is our final day of formal classes. The final 2 days are spent in classrooms, tidying up classrooms and setting up for the start of 2025.
Our Girls T20 Cricket team competed at the recent regional competition in Swan Hill. Again, they performed exceptionally well and were fantastic representatives of our school.
This year, our girls team have made the regional finals in Tennis, Netball and Cricket, which is an amazing achievement.
Well done on a great year of sport, girls!
As part of the Victorian Government Education State model, all families will be part of the new School Saving Bonus Initiative from 2025.
The School Saving Bonus initiative is a one-off payment of $400 per child to be used towards supporting your child's education.
Families can choose how they spend the School Saving Bonus. It can be used towards 2025 school costs, which may include:
The School Saving Bonus will be emailed directly to parents and carers in November 2024. Therefore, it is essential that the school has your correct email address on your child's enrolment. If you need to change this, please speak to the school.
More information about the School Saving Bonus can be found at:

Have a great weekend everyone
