Restorative Practices

Our school values help to guide us in creating a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for everyone. By living these values daily, we build a community where everyone feels supported, respected, and valued.

Our School Values

Respect: Respect others, ourselves, and the environment.

Courage: Stand up and be strong, even when it’s hard.

Inclusive: Welcome and value differences, creating a place for everyone.

Achieve: Strive to achieve our best in all that we do.

Serve: Serve others with Jesus as our model.

Celebrate: Celebrate faith, achievements, and the gifts life brings.

As Parents and Carers

We all play a role in supporting these values:

Courage: Be an advocate, standing up for our children and all members of the St Mary’s     community.

Respect: Show respect to all members of our school community.

Achieve: Partner with the school to support our children’s learning success.

Serve: Be present and active, giving time and care to others in the community.

Celebrate: Recognise and celebrate all that we are and all that we can become.

Inclusive: Welcome and accept everyone in our school community, valuing each unique     individual.

Restorative Practices: Strengthening Relationships

When incidents occur that are outside our values and expectations, we use our restorative practices to help support students in reflecting on their actions,   understanding their impact, and repairing relationships. This approach builds empathy,   accountability, and a sense of community.

We go through these Restorative Questions to help when these incidents occur:

For those who have been harmed:

What did you think when you realised what had happened?

What impact has this incident had on you and others?

What has been the hardest thing for you?

What do you think needs to happen to make things right?

For those who have done the wrong thing:

   What happened?

What were you thinking about at the time?

What have you thought about since?

Who has been affected by what you have done? In what way?

What do you think you need to do to make things right again?

By incorporating these values and restorative practices, we continue to make St Mary’s a safe, caring, and inclusive place for everyone.
