Arts Week retrospective
Miss Maria and Miss Emily
It’s been a massive week at PMPS as we’ve celebrated The Arts in a variety of ways.
Monday was Arts Day which saw many students and staff dressed in costume, honouring the heroes and skills of Arts practitioners. The variety and creativity employed was a delight to see! And many learning activities during the day added fun and imagination to the curriculum … Arts style. Thank-you to all who participated. Through gold coin donations for dressing up, we raised $280 for the Royal Children’s Hospital. Thank-you, PMPS!
The Art Show spanned Monday and Tuesday, before and after school, and looked amazing thanks to Miss Emily’s time, effort and skill in packing a huge amount of work into a small display space. The artwork itself was thought provoking and clearly inspired by some of the masters. It was wonderful to see so many families come through, acknowledging the skill and creativity of PMPS students in painting, drawing, textiles and 3D creations. Thanks also to those student musicians who added atmosphere by serenading us with their instruments – we thoroughly enjoyed your background music!
After skilfully putting the show together, Miss Emily has now started returning work to students as appropriate. This will take a little while if you are waiting for a specific piece.
Wednesday was JAM Band day, and WOW … they delivered without question! The energy, joy and excitement in the gymnasium was palpable as we watched and participated in a set of fabulous songs that we’d been familiarising ourselves with all term. The performers had similarities to the ‘energiser bunny’ – they kept going with velocity for 2 x 75 minute performances. Almost 200 hundred students had the opportunity to participate in the show while wearing the most extraordinary costumes provided by the band … this added to student anticipation as the show progressed. The fun level was off the charts, and the joy on faces was heartwarming. All in all, we had a BALL!
Please check the PMPS socials for a snippet of JAM Band action.
And a very special thank-you to The Portals, our parent band, whose recent winnings subsidised the cost of this event. We’re very grateful!
As an excellent exit to Arts Week, please remember to visit the performance stage at the Fete on Saturday. Our Choir will perform from 11.20am, and there will be many other student performers throughout the day.
Many thanks to the staff, students and families who contributed to ARTS Week 2024 in a myriad of ways. Although it’s just about over for this year, we can’t wait for next year!
