Creating Futures Together
As we approach the end of the year, we would like to extend congratulations to all our Year 10-12 students who are nearing the completion of their exams. For those finishing their Unit 3&4 exams, we commend your hard work and dedication. Similarly, our students who have completed their VCAL courses should be incredibly proud of their achievements. We look forward to celebrating the end of their secondary school journey at our Valedictory Dinner on Tuesday, 10th December. This is a time for recognition of all the effort put into these final years of schooling by students, families and staff.
Our music program continues to go from strength to strength. Congratulations to our Year 7 and 8 students who performed in the Beginner Band at the Victorian Schools Music Festival at the Hawthorn Arts Centre today. It’s fantastic to see our younger musicians developing their skills and gaining such valuable performance experience. In addition, all our College bands will be showcasing their talents at the Spring Concert on Tuesday, 19th November, at the Bunjil Centre. We look forward to a wonderful evening of music and celebration of our students’ musical achievements.
The auditions for our 2025 school production of High School Musical are currently underway, and we wish all students who are auditioning the best of luck. We are excited to see the development of this production and know it will be a highlight of next year’s calendar.
In academic news, our 2025 VCE HeadStart program will begin soon. Year 10, Year 11, and Advanced Study students will commence their 2025 VCE/VM studies from Wednesday, 20th November or Monday, 25th November. It’s important for all participating students to attend as these sessions will provide an excellent early start for next year’s studies.
Year 10 students are also looking forward to their upcoming camp at Charnwood Adventure Camp, where they will engage in team-building activities and outdoor experiences. This camp is an excellent opportunity for personal growth and strengthening bonds between peers.
On Thursday, 5th December, we will host our College Presentation Night, where we will recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students across all year levels. We look forward to as many families as possible attending the event to show their continued support for students and College community spirit.
Looking ahead, our 2025 Booklist will be released at the end of the week, so please keep an eye out for that.
Finally, we are currently seeking feedback from parents and carers via the Compass Insights Survey. The survey is accessible through the Compass Parent Portal and is tailored towards key interactions between the College and home for Semester 2. Your input is invaluable as we work together to continue improving the College.
School Council recently approved new additions to the Dress Code policy based on student and community feedback. These include a navy blue long-sleeve puffer jacket and windcheater with the College logo and received approval from student representatives and parents. The new items will be available for purchase in 2025 and will replace the polar fleece on the uniform list. A reminder to families to please support the Dress Code at our College. The way our students present themselves at school and in the community is important to us and is a key factor in demonstrating school pride.
While we are not at the end of the year just yet and there is still important work to be done, we hope all families are able to have a smooth end to the year and look forward to a well earned summer break.
