Global Youth Forum

A number of year 10 students recently participated in the Global Youth forum organised by DET, Melbourne University and the Asia Education Foundation. The program connected students in Victoria with their peers in Indonesia and across the Asia-Pacific region. As education changes, technology has removed distance as a barrier, letting students learn and grow globally.

In this program, our students connected online with international peers, gaining valuable insights and building connections beyond borders. Students were also able to use their Indonesian skills when collaborating with students from Indonesia.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, students engaged in various group activities designed to address these challenges.

Some student feedback:

“It was good talking to students in other schools and countries about how they deal with teenage issues and climate change. I was surprised to hear that students in Indonesia don’t really experience peer bullying.” Sam Molden

“It was great collaborating with students from Indonesia, India and Malaysia to discuss ideas on global issues. We also talked about environmental challenges in Indonesia, and this was great as we have been studying this topic in class!,” Grace Maniscalchi.

“We learnt about some contemporary challenges that we all face, and together, proposed workable solutions that we as students can do,” Jenita Deepesh

“I was able to deepen my understanding about what it means to be a global learner. The sessions were really useful and fun”, Zach Tang.
