Principal Report
It is always a privilege to reflect on the many wonderful milestones, achievements, and opportunities that make our school such a vibrant community. Over the past few weeks, we’ve had much to celebrate and plenty to look forward to, and I am delighted to share these highlights with you.
Valedictory Evening: A Night to Remember
Last night, we came together for a truly memorable Valedictory Evening to honour our graduating Year 12 students. We had the largest number of people attending this event in recent history and the room was truly packed! It is not difficult though to work out why so many people wished to attend to celebrate this milestone as this cohort has been a shining example of connection, inclusivity, and joy throughout their time at our school. Their energy and commitment to one another and to the wider school community were evident throughout the evening’s speeches, performances, and heartfelt moments. Congratulations to our graduates on this significant milestone – we wish them every success as they embark on their next chapter.
Senior Students Rise to the Challenge
We are currently in the thick of assessment season for our senior students. The Year 12 students have now finished their exams and our Year 11 students are demonstrating great focus and determination as they work through their final assignments and exams. A number of our Year 10 students are also sitting Year 11 exams for subjects for their enhancement subjects. A special mention goes to our Year 10 students, who will sit their first formal exams next week. This marks an important step in their academic journey, and I am confident that their preparation and resilience will set them up for success. Best of luck to all our students during this busy period!
Once the exam period is over, the Year 10 and 11 cohorts each undertake a week of step up in which they will begin the next year’s program. These are important weeks for the students as they will gain insight into the demands of the subjects that they have chosen and receive the homework that they will need to do over the holiday period to ensure that they are starting the year on the front foot and ready for the challenges of the programs they have chosen. We also have a number of students undertaking work experience programs at this time of the year to prepare for their Vocational Major VCE studies. These experiences will be invaluable for them as they step, more officially, into the world of work for part of their programs next year. The Vocational Major program provides students with the opportunity to try out a vocational career all while studying at school. It can lead into an apprenticeship with many of our VM students beginning these whilst still a student. If you are interested in this pathway, I strongly encourage you to speak with Ms McMurray or Mandy Kortholt in the careers department to learn more about the program and how you can prepare yourself for it. Mamma Mia! The Musical Extravaganza
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to invite you to this year’s school production of Mamma Mia, running from December 4th to December 7th. Rehearsals are in full swing, and the cast and crew have poured their hearts into creating a spectacular show filled with music, dance, and plenty of fun. Tickets are still available for all performances, so be sure to secure your seats for what promises to be an unforgettable experience.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your continued enthusiasm and support. Together, we are creating a community where everyone is encouraged to shine, whether on stage, on the field, in the classroom, or beyond.
