Student Safety

Our recent Wellbeing for Learning Check in #2, Cycle 4, identified the following perceptions when students were asked if ‘My school is a safe place for me.’

As school is often one of the most constant aspects of a student’s life, creating a safe environment at school is essential for students in developing a general sense of safety in their lives.

When school is a safe place for students, they are more likely to go to school regularly, enjoy school, participate in lessons and feel a part of the school community. Conversely, when students do not feel safe in their school environment they are more likely to engage in negative behaviours, including absenteeism.

Safety within a school environment is not static, and the CCC community is constantly evaluating and adapting the school environment so that school is a continually safe place for all students. We encourage parents/carers to regularly discuss their daughters' perceptions of safety at Caroline Chisholm College and encourage their daughters to discuss any safety concerns with their teachers or year leaders immediately.

Bullying (SchoolTV)

Bullying has far-reaching damaging impacts on a child's self-esteem, self-worth, resilience and academic success which can carry right through to their adult life. As a parent, it is important to understand what is happening before concluding that it is bullying. Online bullying can have a much greater impact and be far more difficult to deal with. Online bullies can engage in inappropriate behaviours 24/7 and invade a young person's home environment where they should feel safe.
