Olivia J - Golf Championships

Last week from Sunday 10th – Thursday 11th November the School Sports Australia 12YU Golf Championships were held at The Links Shell Cove and Kiama Golf Club.

Olivia J and her 3 teammates Joyce, Mabel, and Lilian made up the Victorian Girls team.

They had a wonderful experience and made new friends with girls from the other states.

On Monday 11th, following a minutes silence for Rememberance Day, the girls played in an Ambrose event (everyone hits and the best shot is taken). This was held at The Links Shell Cove and with everyone contributing the girls shot an incredible 11 under par. However, they were runners up to Queensland Girls who shot 12 under par.

Tuesday 12th at The Links was the start of the 36 hole competition for the teams. This was individual stroke play with the 3 best scores each day counting towards the team score. Olivia shot a personal best of 4 over par 75 beating her previous best by 4 shots.

Following an educational day at the Illawarra Fly Treetops Adventure on Wednesday, the final round was played at Kiama Golf Club on Thursday 14th. This was a much tougher course and Olivia shot an 84.

Fantastic golf was played by all state teams but at the end the combined team of boys and girls, the Victorian team was runner up to New South Wales.
