Social Connections

I’ve been talking a lot this week around Social Connections and speaking to students about what those connections look like for them and how their social connections can impact them positively.

So what is the meaning of social connection?

Social connections are the relationships you have with the people around you. They may be close, like family, friends, and co-workers, or more distant, like people you know casually. They can be as close as next door or so far away that you only connect with them by telephone or through the Internet.

Talking social connections to your child and asking questions like: What connections do they have to others? How does those relationships impact them or make them a better person? How do they help them in their day to day life and improve it?

The answers that the students were giving me were really insightful and meaningful. Some of the examples I heard today include: Talking about how their connection to their teachers help them to learn and the wonderful Aides that we have assisting them to grow. How they love the cuddles from their families and how they help them feel less worried.

Possibly this could be a great dinner conversation starter that everyone could try with their family.
