School Council
School Council Update – Term 4 2024
- JSC attendance at School Council is always a highlight and we welcomed Imogen and Ebony at our November meeting. One of the proposals from JSC is the inclusion of additional speakers in the playground so that everyone can hear the music and the bell when playing on the ovals and outer perimeter of the school grounds. Watch this space!
- The Publicity subcommittee lead two workshops this term:
- School Vision and Values - where councillors were consulted on the updated wording. The updated vision and values that were subsequently shared read well, continue to provide direction, outline expectations, and we believe they will be relatable to students, staff, and the broader school community.
- Staff Survey Summary - councillors reviewed and reflected on the results and attainment of the targets set within the 2024 AIP. The results were positive again this year, broadly reflecting the positive, professional, and respectful culture within the team of staff at CHPS. Focus areas are identified by the staff and based on these results; new targets will be set within the 2025 AIP.
- The 2025 Parent Payments have been ratified and shared with families.
- The 2025 Indicative Budget has been reviewed and passed. This will be finalised in 2025. Thanks to Angela Stevens for all her work in preparing a solid and appropriate budget for the school.
- Four policies have been updated and passed - Digital Learning (Internet, Social Media and Digital Devices), Photography, Filming and Recording Students, Student Leadership, Extra-Curricular and Activities Student Selection, these can be found here (https://www.croydonhps.vic.edu.au/page/74). Seven policies have also been updated at OSHC (as part of their review cycle).
- Facilities and the learning environment – planned painting and carpeting has been completed this term. Look out for the new Prep playground and new school signs in early 2025.
- Thanks to our CHAPs team for finishing off the term with the much-anticipated colour run and the BBQ at our School Carols. We appreciate all the time and effort that goes into coordinating these events.
- Thanks also to MOTHs for organising a few key events this year for students and fathers/father figures to take part in.
- Thank you to all School Councillors; Students; Staff; the School Leadership team; and to all parent/carer volunteers that have helped in the classroom or during other school programs throughout the year. The collective efforts within our school community have made 2024 a wonderful and successful year.
- Wishing all families and staff an enjoyable summer break when we get to it.
