School Council Update
School Council Update Nov 2024
Welcome to the second edition of the Le Page Primary School Council update. This update aims to create an open line of communication with School Council and the important work it does for the growth, promotion and development of our school.
School Council’s role is to make decisions that set our school’s direction and ensures the school is run with the best interest of all our students.
We had a lot to discuss at the November meeting, being our last one for 2024!
What’s on our Agenda in Nov 2024.
- Addressing parking and traffic concerns around the school. Kingston Council have come back to the school proposing to change the angled parking in front of the school to parallel parking and removing some of the no standing signs on the southern side of Argus Street. We feel this will be a net loss of one car park. However, will help to improve safety around the school. We will continue to advocate to Council and the State Government for further safety improvements around introducing pedestrian crossings in Friendship Square and to look at more parking and driveway improvements at Le Page Park.
- Reviewed and endorsed the casual dress day policy. The policy will be posted on Compass and displayed on our website along with all other policies. Please ensure you familiarize yourself with it.
- Endorsed the new uniform agreement with PSW.
- Discussion around the introduction of a new high achievers’ program being introduced in 2025.
- Canteen options – 25 responses were received back following the survey. A sub-committee will be created to investigate future options.
- Gould League options for relocating and freeing up classrooms to expand our growth. The next part of the portable on the upper basketball court will arrive next week. The aim is to use the portables as two classrooms for next year, until the remaining portables arrive, and the Gould League relocates to the upper court.
- What’s App groups will remain in 2025, albeit with some changes! It’s a reminder that this platform shouldn’t be used for school grievances. If you have any personal concerns they should be raised with your teacher or the school management.
- How we can improve communication across the school and setting some clear expectations and parameters around communication on the different platforms.
- 2025 calendar of social club events and school programs was reviewed and endorsed.
