Visual Arts
Over the last two weeks, Foundation students have been working on their self-portraits, comparing their February drawings to their November ones to reflect on their growth and progress. They also followed step-by-step instructions to draw our new school Silkie chickens. After completing their sketches, students brought their artwork to life with colour. Using coloured markers on foil, they pressed the foil onto their drawings, creating vibrant bursts of colour that added an extra touch to their artwork. Year 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6 students have enthusiastically begun a new project focused on creating their own unique animal by combining features from different species. They started by planning and sketching their imaginative creatures, detailing their habitats, diets, physical traits, and methods of movement. Students then began constructing 3D models of their animals, skilfully shaping and assembling their creations using a variety of materials. They will continue to refine and complete their models over the next few lessons. Our year 1/2 students have also been learning the work of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, drawing inspiration from his iconic "flowers with smiling faces." They followed step-by-step instructions to sketch their own Murakami-style flowers using black markers. To enhance their artwork, students used coloured markers on foil, which they then pressed onto their drawings, creating vibrant bursts of colour that brought their designs to life.
PE
Over the past two weeks students have been active in a number of different sports, skills and activities.
The Prep students have been developing some skills with soccer, learning the dribble the ball, pass to a partner and shoot for goal. They have also been working on team work and encouraging each other with minor games. They have been impressive with their support and encouragement of each other and have been improving each week.
Students in years 1 and 2 also have been continuing with soccer and also had a fun session in the hall this week due to the we weather. They played some minor games again working on team work and encouragement.
Unfortunately due to the crazy weather the 34s only had one bike ed session, but this went really well as they did some rotations working on specific skills such as riding in a straight line, breaking, scanning, using breaks and turning around corners. They then finished with a ride around the park and nearby streets all on the footpaths, but they did a great job.
This week due to the weather they had a fun session in the hall playing some minor games and working on team work and sportsmanship.
56 students in PE have continued developing their skills in golf and did some chipping at targets. It has been challenging for many as they have tried this for the first time, but they have been persistent and determined.
In Bike Ed, they are working hard to develop their skills to get ready for the Big Ride Out. For this, last week we road to Karkarook Park in fairly hot and humid conditions. Many of the students struggled a little with this. They need to build up their stamina and resilience to cope a little better in the hotter conditions and they need to be able to ride up the hills that we will encounter on the Big Ride Out.

This week, we ran our Scholastic Book Fair. Keep your eyes peeled on compass to find out how much we made and if Tom and Mr B are in for some punishments…
As the year is coming to an end, we will be running a library day again.
On Monday of Week 10, the 9th of December, all library leaders will spend the day with me in the library, ticking off jobs such as tidying the shelves, scanning books, putting stickers on and cleaning the space. Due to this, borrowing of books will cease in Week 9.
I am looking forward to another successful year in 2026. A huge thank you and shout out to all the amazing students who have helped in the library in 2025; you guys are the best!
