Grade 3

Surf Lifesaving Excursion

On Friday the 22nd of November, the Level 3 students were lucky enough to travel to Port Melbourne to learn life saving and water safety at the beach. The weather was kind - not too hot with some cloud cover, although due to poor water quality, we were unable to swim in the water.

The students learned strategies to stay safe in and around water, including identifying dangers like rip currents and reading safety signs. They developed the  knowledge and skills to respond in emergencies, following the DRSABCD emergency response and the  huddle and the HELP position. Practising rescue strategies using rescue items at hand like tubes, towels, ropes, and bike helmets was also part of the day.

When not learning these safety and survival skills, students had an amazing time playing on the beach with their friends.
