RAP - Reconciliation Action Plan

This term , DPS has been creating a Reconciliation Action Plan. A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a formal commitment to reconciliation. It documents how our school will strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, around the school and with the community.

The steps to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) followed a structured approach to ensure that the plan is comprehensive, inclusive, and meaningful. Here's an outline of the steps that our group took in developing our RAP:

  • Established a work RAP Group that involved teachers, principals, students and parents.
  • Completed a Reflection Survey that gave us a snapshot of the current state of reconciliation in our school.
  • Wrote a vision for reconciliation that clearly communicates our schools commitment to reconciliation to the community.
  • Create RAP actions.

Our schools vision for reconiliation

Our vision at Doncaster Primary School is to foster a respectful and unified community where Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians build meaningful relationships through education, shared cultural understanding, and ongoing dialogue. We strive to integrate Indigenous perspectives into all aspects of school life, ensuring visible representation, inclusive practices, and opportunities for connection with local Indigenous groups. By celebrating Indigenous culture and multiculturalism, we aim to inspire hope for the future and promote mutual respect for all.

Acknowledgement of Country

We begin by acknowledging the Wurundjeri people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet today and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today.
