As the year comes to a close, I will take a moment to go over all of the memorable moments and events that we have come across through this amazing year of 2024.
Ever since the start of the year, this year has been action packed with many events, starting from an inspiring leadership conference in some of our first days of the year. This was a new experience which taught us the many values of a good leader. I got to listen to many people and overall it was a good time.
However, even inside of the school, I am proud that I have set a good example for all of my young peers in the school and hope that I have been a good role model for them this year. Throughout this year I have improved on my leadership skills and qualities, making me a better school captain.
Overall, I am really honoured to have the privilege to have been the school captain this year and I hope that I have set my mark at this school. It truly has been a wonderful year and I wish you all the best for the next year!!

This is the last time you’ll ever hear from me. For the last time my name is Hayley Ip and I’m a part of the 2024 school captain cohort. During my time at Doncaster primary school I’m honoured to be your school captain for the last time. This year was filled with things that have taught me leadership, pride and the importance of being humble. I’ve been here for 7 years. Prep to Grade 6. I have experienced some of the best moments in my life at this school.
One of my favourite experiences where I showcase my leadership was the Manningham youth club excursion. I attended with the school captains and I met the mayor of Manningham and other significant figures in our community.
Another highlight of the year was being able to participate in the 6J and 6S puppet show. We worked together at desktop drumming to show the power of teamwork. I was proud to see students step out of their comfort zone, show dedication in learning their roles and show respect while choosing to participate.
Being a school captain has taught me so many amazing things. I really improved my leadership skills and public speaking. I have done countless speeches, assemblies and face to face events. I have really really enjoyed my time at Doncaster primary school.
I have met countless people, friends, teachers and peers. They helped me become the person I am today. I can’t believe how far I’ve come. It feels like I just started Prep and I’m meeting all my life long friends. Each year it gets better. More friends, more fun and more joy. This year is going to be the most memorable year of my life. The people I’ve met this year have impacted my whole life and I’m so thankful for them. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me to this day. Thank you for everything. I wish everyone the happiest memories through the years to come.

How the year has gone by so quickly! For the past 7 years I have made so many friends, relationships and connected with so many different people. The support I have received from family, friends, classmates and teachers has all pushed me into who I am today. This year was full of so many fun opportunities and one of the activities was the volleyball interschool sports. My team and I worked so hard to reach our goal. The good news is that all the hard work paid off!
At the start of this year, the other school captains and I went to a Young Leaders conference and were inspired by all the speakers. One of the speakers was Jane Bunn. She motivated me to go against my fear and help others, even if it means to step out of my comfort zone.
This year was so amazing and it feels so heartbreaking to leave the friends I have been with for so long. I will never forget you guys and I will be forever grateful for the help my past and present teachers have given me. The memories I have made from not only this year but from the years before will always be cherished deeply in my heart. I hope all my peers will have an amazing journey to success in the future.

As I write this I can’t help but look at the wild ride I’ve had at DPS. From being homeschooled for a year to being television on 9 news, my time at DPS has been amazing and I’m sure I will never forget this school.
Let me take some time to highlight some precious moments with you. From the very beginning I remember going on a long bus ride to the mountains as happy as could be eagerly waiting to get in the mountain and play in the snow. In Year 2 all of a sudden covid had appeared and we had to stay in our homes. It felt very awkward to be inside my house instead of my school but I did enjoy bonding with my family. Because of covid I also got to go on television on 9 News. I got to go on television because their grade 2 teachers had decided that we should write letters to ambulance officers thanking them for working hard during covid. Leading to 9 News asking to interview some of us.
Another precious moment was last year when we went to Sovereign Hill. It was a very fun day and I loved hanging out and playing with my friends. This year we went to Canberra. It was the perfect place to bond and build friendships.
We’ve made many great memories in DPS and thanks to all my family, friends and teachers for helping me become the person I am today. Thank you for the fun year, good luck to everyone.
