Literacy Wrap Up 

Rotary Club Public Speaking Competition

Congratulations to Elijah Wong who represented Doncaster Primary School at the Rotary Club Public Speaking Competition FINAL! Elijah should be so proud of his efforts as he represented our school with Determination, Pride and Success!

 

Phonics

We will be following a systematic, phonics scope and sequence in 2025. We will continue teaching phonics and the students will be completing this session for 30 minutes daily. The lessons will be embedded into the Prep-Two classrooms and will involve oral and written reviews, phonological awareness games and we have new Decodable texts that students will be using in the classrooms for Reading and Phonics. For homework, students will be reading printed Decodable passages linked to the Scope and Sequence as well as Take Home Readers.

 

Home and School Reading Programs

From Term 1, the Levels Prep-Two students will have access to Reading Eggs for school and home use. They have updated their resources and these are linked to the Victorian Curriculum English 2.0. The changes include Fast Phonics and phonemic awareness. You will still have access to this program over the school holidays.
