Physical Education
What an eventful term we have had in Physical Education, Division volleyball matches, Prep swimming, Prep - 2 House Athletics, Level 3 and 4 gymnastics and that is without our weekly Prep - 6 weekly activities. The Level 3-6 students have conducted fitness testing, including the Beep Test, plank and wall toss as well as developing their soccer, badminton and tennis skills. The Prep - 2 students have participated in soccer, T-Ball and cricket. I would like to thank all the students for their enthusiasm toward P.E. this year and look forward to a bigger and better program in 2025.
Prep - 2 House Athletics
This year’s Prep – 2 Athletics Day was blessed with some amazing weather. Perfect conditions enabled lots of parents to attend and cheer on their children competing in a range of activities. The aim of the day is to expose students to a fun day of competition, where the focus is on ‘being involved’ rather than ‘being first’. It did, however, showcase some of the very talented students coming through our junior school which we will watch with interest as they progress through their time at Doncaster Primary School.
A huge thank you to the incredible helpers from Level 6 who stepped out of their comfort zones to assist in the setting up and packing up of the activities and competently running the events throughout the day. This included our wonderful House Captains, Vritti, Benita, Florence, David, Stephanie, Valencia, Shekhar and Edward as well as the additional students Karm, Jayden. L, Desmond, Olivia, Ethan. F, Ruben, Ashton, Janelle, Manuella, Mary, Elena and Zoey. The day could not have been conducted without their help.
A big thank you to all the staff who assisted their classes as they rotated to each of the events with great enthusiasm.
Finally, a congratulations to the students who have been practising each of the athletics events in P.E. this term in readiness for the day. The Preps had learnt a range of new challenging activities including tunnel ball and the baton relay and improved significantly over the last few weeks in readiness for the day.
Level 3 and 4 gymnastics
What a great way to finish the gymnastics program with 2 final sessions using the awesome equipment at the BTYC centre. This included the foam pit, trampolines, high ropes, parallel bars, beam and much more. It was also inspiring to see some of the advanced BTYC gymnasts training on their chosen apparatus while we were there. The feedback from students who attended the program has been excellent and has definitely been a highlight of the year in Physical Education. for many.
