CHILD SAFETY
Aitken Hill Primary School is committed to Child Safety and the wellbeing of all children. Our staff and members of our school community understand that we have a role and responsibility as both individuals and as a collective, to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of all children is paramount with all decisions that we make.
Our school has built a foundation of wellbeing and leadership support that ensures staff are well supported and guided through Child Safe Standards and Mandatory Reporting.
We provide a nurturing, culturally respectful and supportive environment so that students feel safe, cared for and included; and that they understand they have a voice so they feel comfortable to speak to trusted adults.
Child Safe Leaders in our school have responsibilities that include:
- Liaising with the principal and other school leaders to ensure a collaborative and unified approach to child safety
- The ongoing leading, supporting and embedding of a child safe culture within our school
- Monitoring, discussing and embedding mandatory reporting practises within the school
- Providing professional development to staff related to reporting practices, child safe standards and obligations
Child Safety also encompasses embracing cultures and valuing diversity. At Aitken Hill Primary School, we respect all individuals, their backgrounds and traditions.
Ways in which we support and acknowledge diversity within our community include; Students learning about various cultures through inquiry based activities, Refugee Education Support Program (RESP) , links with Foundation House, Harmony Week and Acknowledgment of Country at assemblies.
