A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

Welcome Back

Welcome to Term 4. We hope that you found some time over the holidays to do the things that fill your bucket. It’s hard to believe that we are in the final term of the year. For those who have looked over the term calendar, you will notice that there are many exciting events coming up. If your child didn’t bring home a printed calendar at the end of last term, they can collect one from their teacher or the front office.

We warmly welcome back Shalani and Rebecca after a period of family leave. Shalani will be teaching JTT on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while Rebecca will be teaching MMR on Thursdays and supporting the Foundation team with their small group Social Skills program on Fridays.

Another change to note is that Lilly has changed her working days for this term. She will now be at school on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Please keep this in mind if you need to contact her.

Students Leaving in 2026

Another important part of our planning for 2026 is knowing the number of students in each cohort, which helps us decide on class structures. To assist with this, we kindly ask any families who will not be returning to BNWPS in 2026 to inform the school office.

Student Led Conferences

This Wednesday 8th October is an alteration to school day to allow for our Student-Led Conferences. Students are expected to stay at home for this day and to attend the conference with their parents or carers. Our OSHC service will be available for any families who need childcare. All conferences will take place in person. Student-led conference appointments will be closed for bookings from 9am on Wednesday 8th October. If you are unable to make a booking before this time, please contact your child’s classroom teacher to arrange an appointment at another time.

Planning for 2026 - What are your thoughts?

Specialist Programs

As we move through the first few weeks of term four, we will be collecting feedback and input from the community in order to plan how BNWPS will be structured in 2026.

The first point that we would like to seek feedback on is our Specialist programs.

Historically, BNWPS has run five extremely successful and highly regarded Specialist programs. These have always been;

  • Physical Education
  • Indonesian
  • Visual Arts
  • Performing Arts (previously called Music)
  • Environmental Science

Unfortunately, due to some shifts in funding, we will only have the capacity to offer four Specialist subjects in 2026.

We would like to hear the thinking and ideas from members of the community, and ask that you please use this survey to share your thinking

This information should be kept as reflections on Specialist subject areas offered only. It is not an opportunity to discuss or comment on staffing.

We look forward to hearing everyone’s ideas!
